Waste is formed as a result of production activity in each structural unit of the enterprise and subjected to the accounting, temporary accumulation and further neutralization, processing, disposal or emplacement (storage or burial), and conditions and methods applied have to be safe for environment, population health and living environment.
Waste treatment at the enterprise as well as accounting and reporting related to the waste management is performed in accordance with the requirements of environmental legislation.
Waste being sent to specialized organizations for neutralization was accumulated under control at the equipped enterprise sites:
- mercury lamps, mercury-quartz, fluorescent lamps which lost the consumer properties;
- mercury thermometer waste;
- waste of filtration and distillation of tetrachloroethylene in the chemical cleaning of clothing contaminated with petroleum products;
- waste of automobile pneumatic tyres;
- junk of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, scrap of accumulators, waste paper, spent metal-containing catalysts were collected under control in the specially equipped places at the equipment yard (shop No. 38) and were sold as articles to the designated companies.
Waste intended for emplacement is collected in containers or immediately removed without temporary accumulation.
In 2018 intended for emplacement waste generated in the units on the main industrial site of the enterprise and in LLC "KINEF" health complex was sent to the waste storage and burial facility of LLC "KINEF". Totally 2537.5 tons of waste were placed.
Waste generated at the LLC "KINEF" facilities located in Kirishi and intended for emplacement was sent for burial to the waste landfill of LLC "LEL-Eco". In 2018 the amount was 256 tons.
Norms of industrial and consumer waste generation and its disposal limits were met.
126.341 thousand tons of waste were disposed within the enterprise itself. It was 4-5 hazard class waste. Part of the waste was used as an insulating layer at the waste storage and burial facility. The excess soil from excavating operations not contaminated with hazardous substances was also applied for the dams reinforcement and land arrangement around the gathering ponds of LLC "KINEF". A large part of the phytogenic waste was used for composting.
Junk of the concrete and reinforced concrete products, concrete and reinforced concrete waste in a lump form were sent to the crushing unit. During the year 7965.2 tons of waste were processed to produce secondary production ballast (6660.6 tons), which is used at the enterprise facilities for arrangement of temporary passages, platforms, strengthening the dams of gathering ponds. The screening produced from crushing (1280.8 tons) was used as an insulating layer at the waste storage and burial facility, the extracted metal (245.5 tons) was sent to the equipment yard.
The waste storage and burial facility territory and affected area are continuously under observation based on the "Program for environmental state and pollution control at the waste disposal facility and within its environmental impact".
Evaluation of the observation results of the state of atmospheric air, groundwater and surface water and soils demonstrates no pollutant concentration increase in the affected area of the waste storage and burial facility. There are no grounds to predict the environmental degradation in the territory of the current waste storage and burial facility and within its affected area.
